“Fat and Funky” JAZZ UK
The past couple of years has seen Andy Scott researching the repertoire for solo contemporary tenor saxophone. This led to the formation of the World Tenor Saxophone Consortium which commissioned a new solo piece for tenor saxophone from British composer, Graham Fitkin. Recently Andy has also been editing Richard Rodney Bennetts “Concerto for Stan Getz” which he performed as soloist at the QEH on March 2nd 2006 with the BBC Concert Orchestra as part of the composers 70th birthday celebration concert broadcast live on BBC Radio 3. A version of this concerto arranged for saxophone and piano, along with “Passing” by Graham Fitkin forms the central part of a tenor saxophone CD, entitled "My Mountain Top" which was released in 2006.
In 1998, after many years of collaborating with the respected drummer, Dave Hassell, the Hassell/Scott Duo was started. This highly innovative
duo utilizes the full range of percussion and saxophones, has created it’s own repertoire and their debut album “Sand Dancer” was released on the Quartz Label. The Duos latest project, "Summer with Monica" is a multimedia collaboration involving an actor and live images and is based around a performance of Roger McGoughs poem.

Andy is a founding member of the award winning Apollo Saxophone Quartet which has been at the forefront of contemporary classical ensembles in the UK for the past 21 years. During this time they have commissioned over 100 pieces, many of which have become standard repertoire for the genre.
