SaxFest
Sound Festival in Aberdeen has commissioned me to write a ten-minute work for Massed Saxophones, to be premiered on Sunday 2nd November. I’m delighted to be a part of this weekend of saxophonic events, please check the Sound Festival web site for full details about ‘SaxFest’. ‘Beach Ballroom’ is written for saxes, bass guitar and drums and is written in one continuous movement. I’ve tried to write something that as well as having shape and form, uses lots of different colours, dynamics, tempi and voicings. Hopefully ‘Beach Ballroom’ will prove to be a useful work for developing ensemble, that is specifically designed for saxophone workshop rehearsals and performance.
